Gum disease is a serious and dangerous dental problem that grows on your teeth, irritates the gums, and deteriorates your underlying bone. If the disease is left untreated, it could result in loose and lost teeth. This is a dental problem our Edward B. Miller, DDS team tries to prevent at all costs, which is why we provide six month cleanings and checkups. If you keep up with these appointments, you will likely prevent and fight this disease. However, there are times when the disease can take over your smile without you noticing. If that’s the case, we ask that you please look for the following signs:
· Gums that bleed easily, like when you brush your teeth or eat
· Gums that are sore, tender, swollen, and red
· Receding gums
· Persistent bad breath or a constant bad taste in your mouth
· Loose teeth
· Teeth that are separating or moving out of place
· A change in the way your teeth fit together when you bite
· A change in the way your dentures fit over your gums
If you see these signs, we ask that you please call 972-298-6131 immediately and schedule an appointment with Dr. Edward B. Miller. If you come in and see us at the early stages of the disease, there is a high chance that we can save your smile. We care for you and your oral health, and we are here to help you in any way we can. We also encourage you to call our office if you have any questions. We look forward to hearing from you!
